CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, OUR WONDERFUL COMMUNITY!

On behalf of the hard-working State Theatre for the Arts Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to announce that escrow was closed on the historic State Theatre on October 8, 2011. Escrow was opened on March 14, 2011, with an agreement for the State Theatre for the Arts (STFTA) to purchase the privately-owned State Theatre for the price of $441,000. I am most pleased to report that in seven short months the Tehama County community has stepped up to contribute the amazing amount of $230,000 to our Capital Campaign. Because of this overwhelming community support, STFTA has been able to secure a very attractive interest-only loan for the balance of the sale price. With continued support from all of you in this wonderful community, STFTA is very confident that the remaining loan obligation can be satisfied within the 24-month loan agreement time frame!

STFTA would like to acknowledge the Ron Clark and Ben Sale families, past STFTA Board Members, and especially each and every member of this community who has so generously supported the efforts of our non-profit towards the acquisition of the theatre. We assure you that STFTA will do its very best to justify the support you have given us. We pledge to work to maximize the use of the State Theatre as a performing and cultural arts center for generations to come!

Though we are thrilled with the progress made thus far, we realize that now that we have secured a loan to purchase this grand old theatre our work has truly just begun. We will continue our Capital Campaign for the purchase of the building. We also begin a new era as owner and operator of the theatre. In this role, we must strive to identify, expand and offer quality programming to all segments of the community. While we pledge to work to provide quality programming at the State Theatre, we understand that only with the support and participation of the entire community can we be truly successful!

STFTA will continue to promote and provide quality performing arts programming. We feel the key to long term success may rest with our rental program. Any club, school, community organization or other entity may take advantage of this rental program to present appropriate programming to general or targeted audiences. Any person or group interested in utilizing the State Theatre is encouraged to request additional information by calling the State Theatre at 529-2787. Additionally, State Theatre activity may be monitored by utilizing our web page at www.statetheatreredbluff.com as well as by following us on Facebook at The State Theatre Red Bluff.

Thank you, Red Bluff and Tehama County! SEE YOU AT THE STATE!

Sincerely,

Bill Cornelius, President

Great things are happening at the State Theatre! As President of the State Theatre for the Arts, I am extremely happy to report that with the support of the current ownership of the State Theatre, (Ron Clark and Ben Sale Families) the State Theatre has been a hotbed of activity since mid-March, 2011 when STFTA opened escrow to purchase the theatre.

In the past 60 days the State Theatre has hosted the following events: Challenge of the Champions film tribute (Sponsor-Tehama County Arts Council), Renowned Cowboy Poet Baxter Black (Sponsor- Tehama County Cattlewomen, Sunrise Rotary Club), Presidio Brass (Sponsor-Community Concert Series), Merle Haggard Concert and Live Auction with State Theatre Video Tribute by Tom Hanks (Promoter-Village Maps of America), The United States Army Field Band and Chorus (Sponsor-Community Concert Series), Mercy High School Graduation (Sponsor-Mercy High School), Shasta College Campus Puente Celebration(Sponsor-Shasta College), Tehama County Schools Writing Celebration (Sponsor-Tehama County Department of Education), Rocky Horror Tribute Show (Promoter-STFTA and Red Bluff Daily News), The Really Big Variety Show (Promoter-STFTA and Red Bluff Daily News),

eScholar Academy Graduation (Sponsor - eScholar Academy), Reeds Creek School Graduation (Sponsor-Reeds Creek School.

State Theatre for the Arts is grateful for the approximately 5,000 citizens of this community who attended and supported these diverse and enriching events at the State Theatre. Thanks to the generosity of theatre ownership and event promoters and sponsors, STFTA has received approximately $20,000 in relation to the above listed events in support of the operation and/or acquisition of the State Theatre.

I am also very happy to report that the State Theatre Capital Campaign is proceeding very nicely. Individual and business contributions towards the purchase of the State Theatre have been most generous and more are being received on a daily basis. This level of financial support heartens STFTA and we are pleased to report that thru the generosity of this giving community, our State Theatre for the Arts Acquisition Account is fast approaching $100,000. While we are extremely pleased with our progress thus far we fully realize that the bulk of our “fundraising work” remains ahead of us and we will be seeking support from all segments of the community as we move forward with fundraising efforts to ensure the State Theatre will be providing programming as listed above for generations to come.

Further information regarding State Theatre investment opportunities can be viewed by reading the Capital Campaign Lead Gift Prospectus or by contacting one of the following Capital Campaign committee members:

And one more thing,……….SEE YOU AT THE STATE!

Read the Capital Campaign for the State Theatre Lead Gifts Prospectus

The State Theatre For The Arts (STFTA) non-profit organization is extremely proud to announce that on March 11, 2011 escrow was opened for the purchase of the State Theatre, located in the center of historic downtown Red Bluff. Congratulations are in order to the hard working members of past and current STFTA Boards of Directors, the State Theatre Steering Committee, and numerous other community volunteers and stakeholders who have made this moment possible. Calendar year 2010 was filled with Due Diligence and Strategic Planning activities and in December 2010 the decision was made that purchasing this grand old building was within our capability. Negotiations with owners Ben Sale and Dr. Ron Clark took place over the first several weeks of 2011 and an agreement was reached in early March setting the acquisition price at the value established by a recently commissioned commercial appraisal plus 50% of the cost of numerous building improvements undertaken by private ownership after the completion of the appraisal process. Mr. Sale and Dr. Clark should be recognized for their willingness to absorb in excess of $50,000 as a partial cost of said improvements.

The State Theatre For The Arts has begun a long-planned Capital Campaign under the direction of committee members, Dr. Marvin Locke (retired Superintendent of Tehama County Schools), J.B. Stacy (Senior Vice President, Cornerstone Community Bank), Venita Philbrick (STFTA Immediate Past President) and Bill Cornelius (current STFTA President and retired Tehama County Chief Probation Officer). Current efforts are centered on contacting scores of community members, businesses and other stakeholders who have in the past provided, or have expressed an interest in providing, substantial financial support for the acquisition and/or restoration and operation of the theatre going forward. We are heartened by already having received in excess of $50,000 from a very supportive community prior to the opening of escrow.

Through the generosity of current ownership, and in cooperation with STFTA, events are currently being offered at the State Theatre on a sporadic basis as a community service. As a part of our Capital Campaign it is anticipated that it will be only be a matter of weeks before STFTA sponsors our “State Theatre Campaign Kickoff Gala Event” to be held at the State Theatre. Very soon each and every one of us will have the opportunity not only to celebrate the State Theatre’s proud past, but more importantly we will have the opportunity to invest in its exciting future! And oh, by the way…SEE YOU AT THE STATE!

As you drive by the State Theatre you will see that it now sports a brand new coat (or two or three) of paint. While neither the State Theatre for the Arts non-profit nor the State Theatre Steering Committee can take credit for the enhanced beauty of the theatre, we would like to acknowledge the hard work and financial commitment made by owners Dr. Ron Clark and Ben Sale in beginning the restoration process of this community treasure! In accordance with our recently adopted Strategic Plan, the State Theatre For the Arts, the State Theatre Steering Committee and numerous community volunteers are very busy working in six different planning areas designed to provide the tools for the acquisition, operation and restoration of the State Theatre as a community held property. With the hard work of these folks, the continued interest and cooperation of private ownership and most importantly, the broad based support of this wonderful community, we remain confident that our goal of acquiring the grand old State Theatre can become a reality by early 2011.
