MELE’UHANE presented by Tehama Concert Series

March 9 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Meleuhane

Meleuhane

Hawaiian father and sons trio, Mele’uhane, emerges the issue of more than 5 generations of paniolo cowboys, musicians, and composers as one of Hawaii’s newest World Music artists. Keikilani Lindsey and his sons Leokani and Kaneala Lindsey are lovers of most every musical genre, but they celebrate their love of ‘ohana and culture by continuing to ‘holo mua’ (move forward) in their unique interpretations of classic compositions, new original mele and traditional Hawaiian favorites.
In their deep affection for ‘‘ōlelo Hawai’i (Hawaiian language), Mele’uhane lends a new spin to ‘haku mele’ (Hawaiian songwriting) and join a new generation of Hawaiian stortytellers endeavoring to explore the many untold tales of the heart,… and rendering a song for each emotion.
Living up to the HOKU nomination received for Keikilani Lindsey’s debut album release “Meleʻuhane” in 2015, Mele’uhane released their first official group album, “The Garden” in the summer of 2015. “The Garden” was nominated for three HOKU awards and features 7 original songs and many guest artists including Cyril Pahinui, Michael Ruff and John Cruz.
Mele’uhane, translated (Spirit of Music) now tours full-time throughout the US where they enjoy reaching out to new listeners of every age group, joyfully sharing their original music. They also carry along a tradition of teaching songs played in the art Hawaiian Slack Key guitar style called kiho’alu and methods involving the globally-embraced ‘ukulele.
